Here I stand, alone, surrounded by concrete The cold walls have become part of me There is no escape from here No escape from this place I run around, kicking the doors But each one is locked and bolted There are no windows here No light or humanity can enter Permanant darkness resides Nothing manages to survive here My soul floats around aimlessly No other life, just lonely soul I wonder if forever it will be Trapped inside this fort Surrounded by walls so high Looking up but unable to see the sky Not able to watch the stars

A young girl lies broken and bleeding. So far away you can't hear her pleading. To be able to die with her mother and brother. She's just collateral damage so you don't bother.
An old man sits dazed in the ruin. From his family he's the only one, Left alive from four generations. Just collateral damage to an uncaring nation.
We say we are the civilised world and only want peace, But people are killed and we don't care in the least. People like this are terrorists and savage. So we define these deaths as collateral damage.

It starts off as just a word, One small word, that’s all it takes. A momentary mistake, misheard And that’s all it takes for things to break.
Before we both begin to lose control, Saying things we know we will regret, And shrugging off all words of console. Hating to remember, wanting to forget.
I find comfort at the bottom of a glass, It drowns away the conflict in my head. Used to find it in pain, sharp and fast, It was in silver metals and rusty red.
And here we pause, both you and I, And realise we are
